Galera do Pedal Florida 220 miles Ride from Deerfield beach to Key West 8th edition

The group of 70 riders have safely finished the two days group ride last weekend

Galera do Pedal Florida is a cycling group based in the Deerfield Beach area, located in the city of Florida, United States.

The group was formed in early 2010 by Felipe Costa (The Captain) along with close friends with the primary goal of having a group of friends riding together and promoting cycling as a healthy and eco-friendly mode of exercising, as well as fostering a sense of community among cycling enthusiasts.

Nowadays the group has more than 200 riders joining the group chat, rides, and local events.

Deerfield Beach to Key West – 8Th Annual ride – 220 miles.

Every year GDPF organizes the famous Deerfield Beach to Key West ride, which consists of 220 miles ridden in two days having the sag support trucks with mechanics and food for the group.

On the first day, the group departs from ” The Cove Mall ” in Deerfield Beach at 5:00 am sharp moving at a pace of 22/23 mph towards a reserved hotel in Key Largo area.

The second day leaves Key Largo at the same time, 5:00 am towards the final and beautiful destination Key West City.

GDPF key objectives:

a. Promote Cycling: Encourage and promote the benefits of cycling as a means of transportation, recreation, and exercise.

b. Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community and camaraderie among group members by organizing regular cycling events and BBQs with activities.

c. Advocacy: Advocate for cycling infrastructure development, safety measures, and policies that support cycling in the local community.

Activities:

The group has been recognized for its engagement in various activities to achieve its objectives. Some of the key activities include:

a. Group Rides: Organizing regular group rides of varying distances and difficulty levels to accommodate cyclists of all skill levels. These rides provide an opportunity for members to socialize, improve their cycling skills, and explore different routes across Florida.

b.  Advocacy Campaigns: Collaborating with local authorities and organizations to advocate for cycling-friendly policies, infrastructure improvements, and safer road conditions.

Safety Guidelines:

Safety is a top priority for Galera do Pedal Florida. All participants are expected to adhere to the following safety guidelines:

a. Helmet Use: Wearing a properly fitted helmet is mandatory for all group rides.

b. Traffic Laws: Obey all traffic laws and regulations while cycling on public roads.

c. Group Riding Etiquette: Follow proper group riding etiquette, including maintaining a safe distance, riding “two abreast”, avoiding wheels overlapping, pointing hazards on the road, and communicating effectively with fellow riders.
